"Leo loved his grandpa’s garden. It was a wonderful jumble of colourful flowers and buzzing bees. But most of all, Leo loved the giant sunflowers that stood like tall, happy soldiers along the old stone wall. He always felt they were hiding a secret."

"One sunny afternoon, while chasing a butterfly, Leo ducked behind the sunflowers. Pushing aside the big, scratchy leaves, he saw it. Set into the stone wall, almost completely hidden, was a tiny wooden door no bigger than his hand."

"His heart thumping with excitement, Leo turned the tiny brass knob. The door swung open with a soft creak, releasing a warm light that smelled of honey and damp earth. As he peeked inside, a strange, tickly feeling washed over him, and the giant sunflowers began to grow even bigger!"

"When the tingling stopped, Leo found himself standing in a forest of grass. A shiny red ladybug with bright blue eyes landed on a leaf beside him. "Well, hello there!" she chirped. "You must be new. I'm Ruby.""

""Wow!" was all Leo could say. Ruby giggled. "Come on, I'll show you around!" She led him to a spider's web where dewdrops hung like a necklace of glittering diamonds. "This is the garden's morning jewellery," she whispered."

"They scurried under a mushroom that looked like a large umbrella. There, a grumpy-looking beetle with a tough, dark shell was busy polishing a grey pebble. "Hmph," the beetle grumbled, looking at Leo. "What's a big-folk doing down here? I'm Barnaby, and I protect this garden.""

"Just then, Leo noticed a little bluebell flower drooping sadly, its head bent low. "It's thirsty," Leo whispered. He saw a giant, shimmering dewdrop on a leaf above. "Barnaby, if we push together, we can give it a drink!""

"With a final push, the dewdrop rolled off the leaf and splashed right onto the bluebell's roots. The flower immediately perked up and rang its bell in a tiny, tinkling song of thanks. For the first time, Barnaby the beetle smiled. "You are a friend of the garden," he said."

"As the sun began to set, casting long shadows across the grass, Ruby flew to Leo's shoulder. "It's time to go home," she said gently. "But the door will be here whenever you want to visit." Leo waved a happy goodbye to his new friends."

"Leo stepped back through the door, and with another tickly whoosh, he was his own size again. He stood up and looked at the tall, happy sunflowers. They weren't hiding a secret anymore. They were guarding a whole world of friends."
