The Daydream Spill – Page 1
"It started with small things. During math class, the chalk dust began to shimmer and float, forming tiny, glowing butterflies that danced around the teacher's head. Everyone giggled, but Barn and Zin exchanged a worried look. This felt like dream magic, but it was the middle of the day."

"The chaos grew. In the library, storybook characters stepped right off the pages to argue about who had the best adventure. During lunch, the water fountain gurgled a cheerful sea shanty. The world was turning into a silly, wonderful, mixed-up mess. It was fun, but it was also wrong."

""Daydreams are leaking," Zin whispered that evening. "They're not staying where they belong." They knew they had to go to the Dream Realm. In the attic, they touched the mirror. Instead of grey wisps or swirling colors, the mirror rippled with a light so bright and bubbly it was like looking directly into the sun."

"They stepped through into a world buzzing with energy. This wasn't the quiet, starry Dream Realm they knew. This place was a meadow of impossible flowers that sang, and rivers of lemonade that giggled. In the center of it all sat a girl, her knees hugged to her chest, looking miserable as candy-floss sheep bounced uncontrollably around her."

""I'm Reverie," she sniffled, as Zin sat down beside her. "I'm a Daydream Weaver, but I've lost my Focus Crystal. It helps me shape my dreams and keep them here. Without it, all my thoughts are just... spilling out everywhere!" She waved a hand at a cloud that was raining tiny, colorful cupcakes."

""We'll help you find it," Barn declared. Reverie explained it was lost in the Murky Mists of Distraction, a confusing place where daydreams go when you forget them halfway through. "Be careful," she warned. "The Mists can make you forget what you're looking for.""

"The Mists were a confusing maze of half-finished thoughts. A tune with no ending played on the air, and paths would appear and disappear. Barn tried to map their way, but his keys kept turning into floppy noodles. "Don't think, feel," Zin said, closing her eyes. "It's shiny. I can feel a little glimmer over there.""

"Following Zin's feeling, they found it nestled in a patch of forget-me-nots. The Focus Crystal was a beautiful, smooth stone that swirled with all the colors of a perfect afternoon. It hummed with gentle energy. Barn picked it up carefully."

"When they gave the crystal back to Reverie, she held it in her hands and closed her eyes. The bouncing sheep calmed down and began to graze peacefully. The singing flowers softened to a gentle hum. The Daydream Meadow settled into a beautiful, happy hum."

""Thank you," Reverie said, her eyes shining. "You helped me find my focus." She showed them how she could now weave a daydream, pulling threads of light from the air and shaping them into a tiny, soaring dragon that looped and danced in her palm before fading away."
