"In a garden bursting with sun-yellow flowers and sky-bluebells, a little girl named Lily was playing hide-and-seek with her teddy bear. Suddenly, she heard a sound close to her ear. BZZZZZZ! It was a tiny, fuzzy bee. Lily yelped and hid behind a big, leafy fern."

"The little bee, whose name was Barnaby, hovered in the air. He saw Lily hiding and tilted his head. He wasn't trying to be scary! He had a round, friendly body and buzzed a gentle, humming tune. "Don't be afraid," he seemed to buzz. "I'm just busy with my work.""

"Lily peeked out a little further. "Work?" she whispered. "That's right!" buzzed Barnaby. He flew to a bright pink cosmos flower. "My first job is to sip the sweet juice, called nectar, from deep inside the flowers. It gives me energy!""

""But while I'm sipping," Barnaby explained, "I get covered in a magical yellow dust called pollen." He did a little wiggle, and Lily could see the golden powder sparkling on his fuzzy legs. "Then, I carry it to the next flower I visit!""

"Lily watched as Barnaby flew from the pink cosmos to a purple lavender stalk. "When I share the pollen, I'm helping the flowers make seeds," he buzzed. "Those seeds will fall into the soil and grow into new flowers for next year!""

""And that's not all!" buzzed Barnaby, flying towards a patch of green leaves with little white blossoms. "We bees help grow food, too!" He landed gently on a small flower on a tomato plant."

""By visiting these little flowers," he explained, "I help the plant grow a big, round, red tomato for you to eat in your salad." Lily’s eyes widened. She loved juicy tomatoes!"

"Right next to the flower Barnaby had visited, Lily saw a small green tomato starting to grow. She realized that the little buzzing bee was a key ingredient in making her favorite foods."

"Lily looked at Barnaby, who was now resting on a large leaf, cleaning his antennae. She wasn't scared anymore. "Thank you, Barnaby," she said with a smile. "You're not scary at all. You're a garden helper!""

"Barnaby buzzed a happy tune. From that day on, whenever Lily saw a bee in her garden, she would smile. She knew they were busy helpers, working hard to fill the world with flowers and delicious food."
