"On the edge of a whispering wood lived a girl named Alba. Her laughter was like tinkling bells, and the forest itself seemed to smile when she was near. Birds sang her name, and deer ate gently from her hand."

"But deep within the woods, in a tower of black stone, lived the sorceress Morgana. She stared into her scrying pool, which shimmered with envy. "Why does the forest love her more than me?" she hissed."

"In a flash of purple light, Morgana sent creeping shadows slithering from her tower. The shadows chased Alba away from her home, deeper and deeper into the tangled, unfamiliar heart of the forest."

"Lost and alone, Alba stumbled into a clearing. There, nestled amongst giant mushrooms, was the coziest, most peculiar little cottage she had ever seen. It had a roof of green moss and a door the shape of a leaf."

"The door creaked open, and out popped seven little guardians of the forest, with long beards and pointy hats. "Who are you?" grumbled Stoney, the guardian of rocks. "Welcome!" chirped Sunbeam, the guardian of meadows."

"Alba soon became part of their family. She helped Sprout tend to the seedlings and listened to Sylvan's stories of the ancient trees. The little cottage was filled with more happiness than it had ever known."

"But Morgana's scrying pool showed her Alba's new happiness. Disguised as a frail old woman, she found Alba in the woods. "Take this beautiful crystal," she rasped. "It holds the forest's song." The moment Alba touched it, she fell into a deep, silent sleep."

"The seven guardians found her, as still as stone. Heartbroken, they made her a soft bed of moss and flowers in a sunlit glade, watching over her day and night. The forest grew quiet and sad."

"A young herbalist named Rowan, searching for a rare moonpetal, was led to the glade by a little bluebird. He saw the sleeping girl and the dark magic of the crystal beside her. "I know how to break this curse," he whispered."

"Rowan crushed the moonpetal with morning dew and placed a single drop on Alba's lips. Her eyes fluttered open! As she awoke, the forest burst into song. Morgana's tower crumbled to dust, her power broken forever. Together, Alba and Rowan became the new protectors of the happy, singing wood."
